Recently installed Ring doorbell and Ring security light. The Ring system will alert you to any activity the camera ‘sees’. Can easily check on home exterior from any location with WiFi access to the iNet.
There are many camera solutions available. Unfortunately, they do not play well together. Perhaps, in the next generations, the manufacturers could do a better job of cooperating.,

Good suggestions for most people but hard to follow for those of us living in hurricane prone areas. We need to have shutters closed and the house secure before we leave town. Risking someone breaking in – and setting off an active alarm system – or risking total destruction from a major storm – we’ll take the break in risk as the lesser of two evils.
